Preoperative Risk Assessment

We are experts in preoperative risk assessment. We offer a comprehensive risk assessment, utilizing our experience and state of the art diagnostics.

Who Should Undergo A Pre-operative Risk Assessment?

Anyone who is scheduled to have surgery/anesthesia should have an assessment.
Irrespective of age or medical conditions, surgery and/or anesthesia can be a stressful situation.
Patients with heart disease or valvular disease and those who have risk factors for heart disease, such as diabetes, kidney disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease are at a higher risk for cardiac complications during non-cardiac surgery or procedures.
Certain surgeries, such as peripheral vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, abdominal surgery, and orthopedic procedures, have a higher risk of cardiovascular complications.

Why pre-operative risk assessment?

To avoid or minimize complications during surgery, it is best to be evaluated and have your treatment plan tailored to get you safely through the procedure

How is the risk assessment done?

We assess your risk by reviewing the following:

  • Current symptoms
  • Medical conditions
  • Any prior procedures
  • Physical exam
  • Electrocardiogram
  • Any further cardiac testing if needed

What happens after the risk assessment?

We discuss risks of experiencing cardiac complications during the surgery with you and your referring physician and tailor a plan to minimize these risks so that you can have your procedure as safely as possible.
